Project 1: Internet hotspot

Context

when? where? who? why?

In 2017, the world was populated by 7.476 billion inhabitants, 3.773 billion of whom (in other words 50% of the population) were Internet users. This statement is worrying as nowadays the Internet is a window on the world and its access impacts teaching, health access, economic prosperity and such. In line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, our aim is to develop a product to deploy Internet in remote and rural areas.

Target

With our product we aim to target remote villages and cities that do not have access to Internet connexion.

Service offered

what? how?

The product that we aim to provide would be a hotspot that would connect devices to the Internet via a cellular (wireless) service provider. It would emit a Wi-Fi signal that users can connect their personal devices to (laptop, tablet, or smart phone) in order to use the Internet. This product would have to be developed with the help of service providers as the device will work wherever the service provider has coverage and the connexion speed will be based on provider signal .

With our product we aim to target remote villages and cities that do not have access to Internet connexion.
